I am currently able to accept Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Capital Blue Cross, Horizon Blue, Aetna, United Healthcare, Quest, Optum, Oxford, and Oscar.
If I do not accept your insurance, I am happy to provide you with documentation (also known as a superbill) for out of network benefits.
I have partnered with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can sign up using this link:

Note: Mentaya's goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.

I will conduct a complimentary insurance benefits/eligibility check, but my checks as well as calling insurance directly are still not always 100% accurate.
Below is a list of questions you can ask your insurance company to find out more information on your benefits:
Do I have outpatient mental health coverage?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
What is the copay or coinsurance (percentage of the cost that you are responsible for) per session?
Is there a limited amount of covered sessions per year?
What are my out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?
What is needed for reimbursement?
Do I need a referral?

Insurance is very useful in helping many access care, but there are things to consider when using it:
When you pay out of pocket, you have a greater variety of therapists to choose from. This may be beneficial in finding a therapist that best meets your needs.
Insurance companies require that a client be given a “diagnosis” in order to process the claim. Mental health diagnoses can stay in your medical history and can influence your ability to obtain life or health insurance and certain jobs.
Insurance companies may dictate your treatment by limiting the number of sessions, the length of time each session can last, and type of session that is covered.
If your diagnosis and treatment type are not considered medically necessary, your insurance could refuse to cover your treatment.
Your insurance company will have access to your entire mental health record, if they request it.
If an insurance claim is denied, you’re still responsible for the full cost of the services provided. With private pay, you don’t have to worry about unexpected bills for services that are not covered.
Teletherapy may not be covered by all insurance plans. Most plans opted to cover telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic, but this may change in the future and your eligibility for teletherapy may change at any time.
Only you can decide whether using insurance or doing private pay is the right choice for you.

It varies for everyone! For some, they are able to see change quickly and prefer to end at that point. For others, it may take longer to reach their goals and/or they prefer to stay in therapy long term and meet less frequently in order to maintain their progress.
There is no right or wrong, just a matter of what works best for you!
