Feel confident in who you are.
Online & In-person in Reading, PA
For Parents:
Are you worried about your child, but don’t know how to help anymore?
Maybe your teen/young adult has started experiencing episodes of anxiety or depression. Perhaps they are having difficulty controlling their emotions. You know how smart and kind they are. And yet, it seems like they aren’t able to function in school or maintain good relationships.
For Teens & Young Adults:
Does this sound familiar?
Feeling overwhelmed to the point of having difficulty focusing or enjoying life
Feeling like you don’t quite fit in anywhere or perhaps you’re even being bullied
Feeling emotionally out of control and maybe being told you’re “too sensitive”
Feeling like your thoughts just keep spiraling through “what if’s” and self-doubts
It may seem impossible now, but you can feel in control of your life. You can calm the overwhelming and negative thoughts. You can feel confident. And I can help you get there.
Therapy for teens & college students can help.
HOW I CAN HELP
Gain understanding
I start by creating a comfortable space for you to openly share about your experiences. I’ll provide education to help you better understand yourself and what you’re going through. I help you to know that you’re not “crazy” or “too sensitive”. (Comments I hear often!)
Learn coping methods
You might be trying to cope in ways that either aren’t working or making things worse. There’s absolutely no judgement with how you might be coping. We’ll work together to replace them with healthier strategies to interrupt the cycle of stress and negative self-talk.
Make change
You’ll learn how to be kind to yourself, know your value, manage overwhelming thoughts and emotions, and improve relationships with peers and family. We’ll also work together to improve areas such as sleep, exercise, eating, as these are all important to overall well-being!

Common questions about therapy for teens & college students:
-
Short answer; yes! I have collaborated with many schools to assist with implementing accommodations when a student is struggling academically and/or socially due to their mental health. This ranges from just general meetings/collaboration with school administrators or teachers to assisting with the development and implementation of 504 plans.
-
Are you noticing your child’s grades starting to decline? Are they isolating more? Have you been getting into more arguments with them? Are they having difficulties with friends? These are all signs that now is a good time to seek out professional help.
Even if they aren’t experiencing these symptoms, anyone can benefit from therapy. And oftentimes, young people just appreciate talking about what’s going on to someone that isn’t a family member or a friend.
-
Using evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as CBT and others, have proven to be effective for numerous issues that young people experience, such as anxiety, depression, peer issues, school issues, etc. Therapeutic success is also influenced by the comfort level between client and therapist. And so, I strive to create a safe and judgement free zone in session.
-
I always value parent involvement and encourage family sessions, when appropriate. However, your teen is guaranteed confidentiality unless they give permission to include you in sessions.
